Airman - RHS chelsea flower show 2015
Using a 3-D scanning process the above digitally rendered image was created then further split into layers with alternate layers being deleted. This deletion allows spacers to be placed in-between the layers of laser cut steel without disrupting the form of the figure, and in turn giving it almost holographic properties. Once the layers are stacked on columns fixed to the base and secured the figure flickers between levels of transparency as the observer moves around it.
A custom laser cut aluminium sheet mounted onto a solid backplate with LED backlighting concealed in the cavity in between creating a stunning image that's constantly changing in different lighting conditions, both at day and night.
